Jerzy Baby

Almost 4 months.

House Crazy

This last week has proven to be crazier than normal. We listed our house last Sunday, and in the matter of 4 days, had 3 showings of the house with one more planned. Then, we received an offer on the house! Nate and I couldn't believe that we had an offer on our house after listing it the same week!! Now, it is sold.

The good news is that the offer will cover what we owe on the house and the realtor fees. The bad news is the new people want to move in ASAP. Initial attempts at finding a rental here in Nebraska have been fruitless. What is this world coming to when you can't bribe a landlord? "No short-term leases!"

So, plan B is to go to Appleton this weekend and look at some houses. When we found we were moving to Nebraska, it was such a major undertaking, that I remember praying that God would help us to find the house He wanted us to live in. And, we did. We have been very, very happy here. The house, the location, the neighborhood, have all worked out so well.
So now, dear friends, that's really where we find ourselves once again. We've made a list of things we need in the next house and are leaving the rest up to God. I pray He'll lead us to the house He wants us to spend our future in. That is, until the next major move. =)
Here are some pictures of our current house, for those of you that would like to see it. Nate has done a lot to the kitchen, our bedroom, and the basement. I am sure these things made the sale of our house much easier.

We didn't do anything to the outside. There is a large, 3-car garage around the corner as well.

We painted the kitchen and added crown molding above the cabinets.

This is my favorite modification...a new light above the sink!

Living room...we didn't change anything here...except patch a few holes.

We painted our bedroom, added the beadboard to the ceiling and the crown molding. I'm not sure I'm BIG on the stripe we did, but we're moving anyway. ;-)

Jozef and Marcel's room. It was painted kind of neat and we never touched it up (low priority, sorry, boys).

We painted the basement, tore out the old carpet, Nate installed the birch floor here, and recarpeted the stairs. It's a great place to be!

Nate installed a new shower stall in the basement bathroom and the tile floor.

Rockets for Homeschools

Anyone affiliated in any way with Kingsford High School knows of a recent program at the school, titled "Rockets for Schools". The initiative is a regional one aimed at promoting interest in students in the fields of science and aerospace.

In our household, we have our own aspiring aeronautical engineer. And, Kolbe's interest in all things rockets has led Nate to purchase a small rocket from our neighborhood big-box store.

The last weekend in January, when we were in the U.P., Nate and the boys, as well as some of our family, launched the rocket twice. Since we've been home, the rocket has been calling to Nate and Kolbe from the garage. I think Kolbe is moderately interested, but Nate has a special affinity to "blow things up". Just ask our high school chemistry teacher...and his parents.

Here are some photos of our most recent launch, Nebraska style. Of course, out here, the best place to launch a small rocket is a wide-open field.

Jozef was excited that he got to press the ignition today.

Setting up.

Kolbe affectionately named his rocket "NASA"

Blast off!

It took Kolbe about 10 minutes to find the rocket. It was an overcast day, and we didn't see where it landed.

Jerzy all bundled up for the launch. He watched from the backpack.

Serenade

Yesterday, when I walked into the kitchen, I saw three little boys gathered around the baby, singing him "Tiwnkle, Twinkle Little Star" in the softest, little boy voices possible. They love him so very much.

Lost: Found and Lost Again

One of our favorite TV shows, Lost, has recenlty begun it's 5th season. Being that we don't have any TV channels (by choice), Nate and I often tune-in via Internet (one week after the episodes broadcast).

We decided to watch an episode or two while we were traveling recently, utilizing the free hotel wi-fi. We took in two episodes in which Nate kept his end of the bargain and fell asleep during at least half of the second episode (and then begged me to fill him in! =).

This week, another episode was added and I excitedly clicked to begin loading the video while we hurded the boys off to bed. When I got back from bedtime mayheim, I saw "There is an error with the player. Please try again." Further attempts to rot our brains while agonizing over the survivors fates have been sqwealched by our wimpy satellite internet.

Foiled again! Welcome to rural America.
